Wishing you a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
“Auld Lang Syne” means “old long since”, “long long ago”, “days gone by”, or “old times”.
Written by Robert Burns in 1788, it is a Scots poem set to folk music and traditionally sung at the conclusion of New Year gatherings in Scotland and around the world.
Let us contemplate the “old times” together with a hauntingly beautiful version of Auld Lang Syne and a collection of paintings and drawings.
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
- Robert Burns
